Grenada Sailing Week

  • Tyrell Bay Marina Grenada (map)

Come spice it up in Grenada with a week of racing in some of the most beautiful waters of the Caribbean. This great event is geared towards getting a real taste of Grenada through multiple racing venues and a real community feel, giving us an amazing opportunity to sail in different conditions and see totally different parts of this gorgeous and welcoming country.

We also get a great mix of middle distance racing and tight round the cans maneuvers, which really helps to put our crew through their paces, building skills and challenging our teamwork. The Round Carriacou Race is absolutely stunning, and the shifty breeze and tight courses off Grande Anse near Port Louis is some of the most fun racing in the Caribbean!

Logistical Note

The event begins in Carriacou, the island north of Grenada. There is a small airstrip for charter flights, but the easiest way to get there is a ferry ride from St.George’s in Grenada. Alternatively, for those with sufficient experience, Panacea X will be sailing directly from Barbados to Carriacou in the Rum to Spice Race.

We do not offer accommodation on board. For the ‘repositioning’ Race Day 2, where we race from Carriacou to Le Phare Bleu on the south end of Grenada, we either carry all crew bags with us, or arrange for a friend’s boat to carry them and save us the excess weight. Sea to Sky can help facilitate organizing a crew house in the various regatta venues for crew who register early.

About life on board

As with all Sea to Sky racing, we will be as competitive as we can be together as a team, but safety will of course always come first by a long shot, followed by providing a positive learning environment where everyone can develop their skills and enjoy the experience. Expect to be pushed to achieve your best, to expand your skill set and truly challenge yourself, with ongoing support from our professional skipper.

We compete as a team and we prepare as a team, meaning everyone is expected to chip in with essential tasks before, during and after the race. This includes cooking, cleaning, provisioning, light maintenance tasks, rig and deck checks, etc. We also share sailing duties and do our best to rotate through positions on board when conditions allow for more experience building.
